Vitamin A as retinol, its active component, is strongly correlated in the modulation of both innate and acquired immunity, just like vit. D. But even more specifically it seems to be strongly correlated with the maintenance of good immune homeostasis at the intestinal level: what does all this mean, that retinol has a sentinel function so that our bacteria are not attacked by the host's immune system.
All this translates into a specific stimulating action on specific intestinal dendritic cells as well as a whole series of actions that lead to a marked genomic action and induction of a class of lymphocytes called regulatory T.
