For over thirty years OTI – Innovative Therapies Workshops works in the service of health, also understood as well-being, physical and mental.
When passion for work and roots in one's homeland meet a love for culture and music combined with a sensitivity towards the future of the younger generation, projects are born that are destined to leave a mark over time.
For the 2021-2022 school year OTI has chosen to support an innovative social project, “El Sistema: The Abreu Method as Prevention of Youth Discomfort”, activity promoted by the master Manfredo of Crescenzo, aimed at children aged between 11 and 14 who live in the San Donato, Rancitelli and Zanni neighbourhoods of Pescara, considered among the most disadvantaged, poorest and most crime-ridden in Italy.
"The system"
created by José Antonio Abreu Anselmi
in 1975 in Venezuela
Innovative method of music education He managed to train more than two million young Venezuelans from slum areas. Taking them off the streets, he used music as a tool for social redemption and as an effective means of preventing youth distress.
The commitment of OTI
OTI has chosen to contribute actively, integrating the institutional contributions of the European Union, the Abruzzo Region and the Municipality of Pescara with donations aimed at support for 90 kids, who have already begun to study within a symphony orchestra and a polyphonic choir, collegial elements that become an essential teaching tool for the success of the project.
In fact, feeling part of a coordinated group and a project, the young musician is personally responsible, experiences comparison with others in a positive way, is driven to improve not only to show that he is up to the role but also to not undermine the success of the group, contributing to the success of the choir/orchestra.
The project leader is the Musical Association “G. Rossini” of Roseto degli Abruzzi, supported by two prestigious international partners such as Vozes Foundation of Barcelona (Spain) and Associação Sójovem das Saibreiras (Portugal).
During the activities, trips are planned for the children. Erasmus in Spain and Portugal, to exchange good practices with other young people who have been adopting the Abreu method for several years.
